5G is currently available “all around the country.” 5G is being promoted by AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon as being faster, stronger, and better—but you’ll need a 5G phone to get on board. The reality of 5G networks in the United States isn’t as exciting as the advertisements suggest. The statewide networks of AT&T and Verizon are slow, Verizon’s good network is hard to come by, and T-mid-band Mobile’s network is still a work in progress.
But that will change in the next two years. The carriers just invested more than $80 billion in new C-band airwaves. By next March, Verizon expects to have C-band coverage for more than 100 million people. By the end of 2022, AT&T claims to have covered 75 million people. T-Mobile continues to roll out its mid-band network.
