All Inclusive Holidays: Are They Worth It?

all inclusive holidaysAll Inclusive Holidays: Are They Worth It?

I have always been an off the cuff traveler. Going from one destination to another without a care in the world has its merits. However, in almost every case there is a budget to stick to. More often than not the budget gets a little tweaked here and there and I end up spending a lot more than I anticipated when all is said and done. I have friends that are cruise fanatics and one of the things they like so much about taking a cruise is that they are all inclusive holiday deals.

Having sailed around the world and being an avid sailor for 30 years, I am not one for cruises per se’. I have enjoyed them but never really made them a priority. There are certainly other types of all inclusive holidays that do not require a cruise and are actually a lot of fun. At first I was worried about feeling locked in to a schedule or being limited on what I could do to stretch my wandering legs. I need not have been concerned. I admit that I have only taken one all inclusive holiday; a trip to Jamaica. I figured this was the perfect spot since I had sailed into Jamaica on numerous occasions and knew what to expect when I got there.

What I did not expect to find was my every whim being catered to. The best part of all inclusive holidays is that they are worry free. Not once did I concern myself with the budget, which allowed me to really relax and enjoy myself. Of course I gained enough weight to make two of me, but I was on a worry free holiday so who cares?

At every turn there was another activity that I need not try to fit into the budget. I will never give up my sense of freedom with extended travel to unknown destinations, but all inclusive holidays can really make for a great getaway without the pressure of sticking to a budget. With everything paid for in advance, it is easy to just slip into the atmosphere and enjoy. If I felt like being active there was plenty to do, if I wanted to be lazy and just lounge on the beach then that was ok too.

So if I were asked if all inclusive holidays were worth it then I would have to answer yes. By all means it can be a fantastic way to eliminate the pressure of sticking to a travel budget. At first glance the prices can sometimes seem high, but when you compare it to the actual total of what was spent on similar trips it almost always comes out much less expensive with the all inclusive holidays.

UK Holidays: Destinations to Visit.

UK HolidaysUK Holidays: Destinations to Visit.

Living on both sides of the Atlantic I often mix up my terms between British English and American English. In America we take vacations to the Grand Canyon, while in Europe we take UK Holidays. In size the UK is lacking, but there are so many places to explore. Coming up with just five of my favorite places to take UK holidays is a chore. The following three locations are spots that I would make sure my friends and family did not miss if asked where to go and what to see.

UK Holidays for History

Saying that England has history is like saying Rome has a big church. You can’t fall down without landing on something historical. The one area that I find to be the most interesting as well as beautiful is Rye. Rye is located in East Sussex in the south of England. There are countless towns and villages that boast a colorful history but lack the evidence in comparison to Rye. The Ypres Tower (aka The Castle) is probably the top photo op with the Town Wall and Landgate coming in tied for second. Rye is in 1066 country close to Hastings where the battle of 1066 saw the birth of England. Here you can follow in the footsteps of William the Conqueror.

UK Holidays for Escape

Getting offshore to Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands, makes for a great escape. The beaches are lovely in Jersey and the sun shines a lot more than on the main island of England, Scotland and Wales. The Channel Islands are located just off the coast of Normandy France. Jersey offers some of the best seafood in all of Europe; known for mussels (called moules locally), oysters, lobster, spider crabs, ormers, and conger. Jersey is also known for its rich cream and butter, making the deserts out of this world. For relaxation, walks on the beach and completely ditching the diet, Jersey is one of my favorite spots to escape on UK Holidays.

UK Holidays for Nature

It is surprising how such a small country can have so much rural area. There is certainly no shortage for English Countryside, making it a tough choice for a favorite. When it comes right down to it then Gwynedd Wales takes first place. Gwynedd is one of those places where you find yourself looking at more natural beauty than is possible to take in. It defines breathtaking. Located in the north of Wales and home to Snowdonia National Park, Gwynedd is a region with amazing mountain scenery, tranquil valleys, crystal lakes, dramatic rivers, a scenic coastline and the epitome of Welsh culture and heritage. Using Gwynedd as a base, you can explore the entire region and find story book fishing villages and a lifestyle only found on UK Holidays.
