How to get a FREE Vacation. For Real!

The standard school of thought on “something for nothing” is that it does not exist. Nothing in life is free.

In most cases I tend to agree. Of course there are exceptions to every rule. Take the Vegas Comp for example: we have all heard of the free junkets to Vegas, upgrades for high rollers, free drinks in the casinos and the personal assistant provided to those that have the big bucks.

But what about the little guy? The working stiff that struggles to put enough together to get away for a few days? Is there anything out there for him?

Yes there is. Of course the something for nothing rule kicks in. The best way to look at this is from a purely realistic and mathematical point of view.

Let’s take a short four day vacation in the Caribbean for example. After a quick search on Expedia.com it looks like to stay in a decent resort in Cancun is going to cost around $800.

Now assuming the average blue collar worker makes $25 per hour it will take the better part of a full weeks wages to afford this resort stay.

How about an easier way? Let’s say you were able to get a part time job that paid $535 per hour. You would only have to work for an hour and a half for this vacation. Not too shabby.

These opportunities are out there. Take Cancun for example: I tried it myself. The fact was I was going to Cancun anyway so I decided to try it just to see what the deal was.

You sit for 90 minutes and listen to some guy ramble on about how great partial ownership is. They can tell if you are interested or not. So if you are not interested do not pretend to be. That way they will drop it and let you enjoy your vacation in peace. And it really is a cool place. Well worth an hour and a half of my time for an $800 vacation.

This is the best time of year to go to Cancun. The temperature is great, the spring breakers are nowhere to be seen, the snow birds are still up north. For next to nothing you can enjoy the beautiful beaches of Mexico, scarf down some burritos and destroy a few pitchers of Margaritas.
